We realize that Positive Impact, Integrity, and Transparency are very important when choosing where to donate. We are committed to each of these, and this page explains how we have complied with each state's Charity and Professional Fundraiser regulations.

We hope you find this information helpful and puts your mind at ease when donating through Altruity. Even if you choose to donate elsewhere, we encourage you to use the links below to research your chosen charity and/or fundraiser to make sure they are registered in your state.

First, some quick definitions to keep you informed:

Charities

This is a nonprofit organization that is registered in most states and also registered with the IRS to obtain a 501c tax-exempt status.
  • list-itemTypically, you will want to donate to charitable organizations, like the Altruity Foundation, that have received the 501(c)(3) status because your gifts are eligible for a tax deduction.
  • list-itemSome charities have a different IRS status and you should research them before donating your money.

Professional Fundraiser or Solicitor

This is a company that a charitable organization has hired to solicit donations on its behalf.


Altruity Foundation (TAX ID 84-5177659) is a 501(c)(3) charity, and Olithan Solutions Inc. (TAX ID 83-1330694) is a Professional Fundraiser.

Registration Requirements

Charities

38 states require charities to register with their Attorney General or Secretary of State offices before being allowed to solicit residents of their state.

Professional Fundraisers/Solicitors

41 states require Professional Fundraisers/Solicitors to register with their Attorney General or Secretary of State offices before being allowed to solicit residents of their state.
  • list-itemPay an annual registration fee that ranges from $50 to $1000.
  • list-itemFile annual solicitation campaign financial reports that are made part of the public record.
  • list-itemMost states also require a surety bond with amounts ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 each year.

These registration requirements are complicated, time consuming, expensive, and VERY NECESSARY! Each state has instituted these regulations to protect you…the donor.

Important note: some states take upwards of 90 days to fully process registration materials. We have indicated those states where we have submitted our registration, but the state has not yet completed their processing. If your state has not completed our registration yet, then we are not soliciting you to donate. If you choose to donate, then you are completing a “self directed” donation and you acknowledge that we have not asked for or solicited a donation from you.
