5 Ways to Support Breast Cancer Awareness Month in 2021

There are so many ways to get involved and make a difference for Breast Cancer Awareness Month this year.

Every October, people across the globe observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month to show support for those affected by breast cancer. The aim is to raise money and awareness to accelerate research and provide necessary support for survivors, those living with breast cancer, and their families.

This year, Altruity is sharing 5 ways you can get involved and show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Take a look!

1. Volunteer your time.

With so many wonderful local and national organizations, like the American Cancer Society and the American Breast Cancer Foundation, there’s no shortage of events and programs to volunteer with. You can help cancer patients by organizing meal deliveries, driving or coordinating rides to and from treatment, or helping out at your local American Cancer Society office.

2. Participate in a run or walk.

Most people have heard of the Komen Race for the Cure, a series of 5Ks held by Susan G. Komen for the Cure, one of the largest and most effective breast cancer awareness organizations in the world. The charity also organizes the 3-Day for the Cure, an awe-inspiring 60-mile event. All proceeds from these events go toward funding breast cancer research.

There are various other races to get involved in as well, like the Relay for Life or Making Strides Against Breast Cancer organized by the American Cancer Society. These events are a fun way to get your friends and family involved too!

3. Wear pink.

The color pink has become an internationally recognized symbol of support for breast cancer. Wearing a pink ribbon or adorning your house/mailbox with a pink ribbon is an easy way to show your support during Breast Cancer Awareness Month—and the rest of the year! You can also get your friends and family to “think pink” this October by hosting a themed, color-coordinated event to raise awareness. Get creative!

4. Create your own fundraising event.

If 5Ks and walks aren’t your thing, organize a community event around something you’re passionate about instead! Hold a yoga class, have a bake sale, or host a yard sale to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, then donate all the proceeds to a breast cancer charity of your choosing. Turn your passion or hobby into a powerful fundraising opportunity within your community.

5. Donate to the cause!

If you’d like to donate online in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Altruity is an extremely effective site to take advantage of. We have numerous breast cancer charities to choose from, like Susan G. Komen, the American Breast Cancer Foundation, and the Breast Cancer Alliance.

Please check-out our Spotlighted Charities section on the Donate page!

The best part is you can donate to all these charities in one simple transaction with Altruity’s Gift Basket, so you don’t have to navigate to different websites.
